Lady Rams wrap up track and field season at state finals

CHARLESTON – The season concluded Saturday for the Mt. Vernon Lady Rams track and Field team at the finals of the IHSA Class 2A state championship.

Overall, Mt. Vernon placed ninth with 23 points. Dunlap won the 2A state title with 78 points as they edged Cahokia, who finished with 57.

Mt. Vernon senior A’Veun Moore-Jones finished her high school career in Shot Put with a second-place showing at the IHSA state girls track and field finals in Charleston.

Moore-Jones was also second in the Discus after a throw of 137-10. Junior Tayla Schwarz of Dixon won with a toss of 142-00. 

Kate Bushue was eighth in the 1600-Meter Run with a time of 5:16.06. Junior Tredaja Harris finished fifth in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 25.52.
