WOODLAWN – Top-seed Woodlawn had no issues advancing Monday evening past eight-seed Cisne, 18-3, in a Midland Trail Conference softball tournament quarterfinal contest in Woodlawn.
The Lady Cardinals (16-7) advance to play Christ Our Rock Lutheran Tuesday at 3:30 PM in Waltonville. The Stallions defeated Wayne City on the road, 8-2.
Woodlawn got on the board in the bottom of the first inning on a solo home run from Kiara Lueking to lead off the game.
The Lady Cards went on to score five more in the second, nine in the third and three in the fourth on their way to a short-game victory.
Kalyn Crider (12-4) picked up the win in the circle. She threw four innings allowing one hit and striking out seven.
Kiara Lueking went on to hit a second home run and finish 2-for-2 on the day with four RBI. Lexy Knox was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, Crider was 1-for-4 with two RBI and Callie Lueking finished 1-for-3.
Madison Tiemann was 3-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBI and Hallie Hill was 1-for-1 with a RBI.
